Self-acclaimed "King of feminism", Solomon Buchi has denounced the movement and he gave reasons for his action.   Solomon Buchi has been a vocal feminist on Instagram and Twitter for years. He recently caused an uproar when he referred to himself as the "King of feminism".    Today, he announced that he no longer identifies with the "secular feminist institution" because of what "feminism has evolved into" and because it doesn't "corroborate the Gospel of Christ that saved me".   He also apologized to anyone he might have offended in the phase of his "passionate feminist advocacy."   He wrote: "From today, I cease to identify with the secular feminist institution.   Shola, a young Nigerian who was arrested for creating a Goodluck Jonathan parody Twitter account, has reacted following his release from prison.   Shola made it clear that he wasn't trying to impersonate the former Nigerian president because he indicated in his Twitter bio that it was a parody account.   He added that he shared a tweet on May 5 and was arrested on May 23 after his telecommunications service provider gave them his information without his consent.   He wrote: "The telecommunications service provider gave out my data without my consent which is really bad, my privacy was invaded. They got 5 numbers in which my uncle’s digit was among.   The management of Abuja National Hospital is in search of the relatives of an unconscious man, pictured above, who was brought to the hospital after he was knocked down by a fast-moving vehicle along an airport road in the Federal Capital Territory on Tuesday, August 18.   Anyone with useful information about the man should contact the hospital's Trauma Intensive Care Unit. 

  Nollywood filmmaker, Tchidi Chikere has been dragged into an exchange with a follower over his comment about bottles used to sell groundnuts in the country.    Chikere, who shared a photo of some unidentified people arranging some used bottles on the floor stated that they are bottles used to sell groundnuts across the country and are picked from the garbage heap.    However, after being accused of "complaining about citizens trying to make ends meet in a legit way," the filmmaker fired back by saying that the bottles picked from dustbin heap were not recycled but rinsed.   

  Actress Nse Ikpe-Etim came hard on a Twitter user this morning who made it her job to caution her about her dressing.   She shared the photo above on her Twitter handle, and a Nigerian man with the handle @IsaacNwaubani, appeared to be unsettled by the photo.   Nollywood actress, Yetunde Modinatu Bakare has shared her thoughts on religion after converting from Islam to Christianity.   The actress, who said she was born and brought up as a Muslim, disclosed that she converted for reasons best known to her.   The Jigawa state chapter of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has threatened to boycott the 2020 Annual General Meeting of the bar if the decision to withdraw the invitation of Kaduna state governor, Nasir el-Rufai, is not reversed.   The NBA on Thursday, August 20, announced the withdrawal of Governor el-Rufai's invitation, following a protest by some lawyers who argued that the governor is well known for 'human rights abuse,' and therefore shouldn't be invited to their meeting.   In a statement released, the chairman of NBA in Jigawa state, Abubakar Garba, argued that the governor has not been given a fair hearing to defend himself from the allegations of human rights abuses some members of the profession leveled against him. The state chapter argues that if Governor Nyesom Wike, who has been accused of human rights abuses, can be invited, then they see no reason why Governor el-Rufai should be denied an invitation.   Read the statement below      

  The trial of the owner and driver of the truck carrying an unlatched container that fell and crushed two workers of the Federal Aviation Authority of Nigeria FAAN, Chidinma Ajoku, and her colleague, Chima Nnaekpe, and one other person, commenced at the Lagos State High Court on Thursday, August 20.   Chidinma and Chima boarded a commercial bus back home after the close of work on July 26. Sadly, the container on a truck fell on the commercial bus they boarded and crushed them to death. The bus driver also died in the accident.   At the first sitting which was on Thursday, August 20, the state Attorney General of Lagos state, Moyosore Onigbanjo (SAN), amended the charges against the two defendants to 7 counts as against the earlier 3 counts filed against them. In the amended charge, the truck owner and the driver are facing 6 counts of involuntary manslaughter and one count of liability for the safety of vehicles which caused the deaths of Chidinma Ajoku, Nnaekpe Victor, and Daniel Ok

  Supporters of the All Progressives Congress and those of the African Democratic Congress engaged in a violent clash in the Yaba area of Ondo town, Ondo State on Thursday evening, August 20.   Several party faithful were injured while several cars were destroyed in the crash.   The incident came a few hours before the local government elections in the state. The cause of the fight is yet to be ascertained. Police say normalcy has been restored to the area and efforts are being made to arrest those behind the violent attacks.   More photos below...

  The British High Commission in Nigeria has announced that it has reopened its visa application centres across the country and that any individual whose 30-day visa to travel to the UK for work, study or visitation has expired can request a replacement free of charge.   The UK High Commission, announcing the move today, Thursday, August 20, said the free visa replacement will be open until December 2020 and cover individuals who will be travelling to the UK to work, study or join their families.   In a statement by the Commission on titled, ‘Update on VAC Services From The BHC Nigeria’ posted on its verified Twitter handle, @UKinNigeria the commission said; “As a result of the disruptions to travel caused by COVID-19, we are experiencing high demand for replacement vignettes for 30-day visas to travel to the UK for work, study or to join the family. “If an individual’s 30-day visa to travel to the UK for work, study or to join family has expired, or is about to expire, they can reques

  Police officers are on the lookout for anyone with information about a set of goats that 'hijacked a police car in broad daylight'.   In the words of the Isle of White, UK police officers, they are in the hunt for some badly behaved 'kids' who damaged their vehicle and are appealing for witnesses.   According to police, the goats were pictured standing on top the police vehicle near Newport on Wednesday afternoon August 19, as Police had been called to the area after an unexploded bomb from World War II was discovered.    The police called the Royal Navy Explosives Team, travelled from Portsmouth to help destroy the unexploded bomb.     The officers, after detonating the bomb, then returned to their car only to find their car damaged by the 'hooligans'.     The police are now asking if anyone can recognize the goats from the picture.    A police statement published on the police department's official Facebook page said: ‘In a field on the outskirts of Newp

  A woman has been rescued from a septic tank three days after a man who stole her baby from her threw her in there.   The nursing mother, named Mrs Chizoba Eke was pulled alive but injured from the septic tank of an incomplete building located in Igwuruta, Ikwerre Local Government Area, Rivers State.   Her attacker, simply identified as Chinedu was apprehended when he tried to traffic her six months old baby through Omerelu, Rivers border with Imo State.   Mrs Eke, the nursing mother was kidnapped from her home with her baby on August 17, 2020, and forced into a septic tank after a severe assault by her abductor.   The husband of the victim, Mr Eke, also alleged that Chinedu had attempted to rape his wife when she was pregnant with the newborn.   Mr Eke said, “I was invited by the police to come and identify our baby, having lodged a complaint when both my wife and baby went missing. The suspect is known to me as Mr Chinedu. He had attempted raping my wife when she was pregnant.”   Mr

  The father of a patient slapped and stabbed the medical doctor who was in charge of his child's case, it has been claimed.   A medical doctor narrated the story on Twitter as he discussed the "hazards" medical doctors are exposed to.   He wrote: "The kind of hazards Drs are exposed to is staggering! In Nigeria, added to the well-known hazards, we have assaults from patient relatives added! A female Dr was slapped and stabbed with a syringe (of unknown origin) in our Children's Emergency by the patient's father.
