Injured Nigerian survivor of Beirut Explosion calls for help from Nigerians (video)

A Nigerian woman who was badly injured in the Beirut explosion in Lebanon has called out for help from her hospital bed.   The woman, identified as Nkiru Obasi, explained that she recently got a job caring for an elderly person in the location where the explosion happened and that she was there when the tragic blast occurred on August 4, killing over 100 and injuring more than 4,000 people.   The Ebonyi State indigene narrated how she experienced the explosion, walked over dead bodies to escape as the four-storey building she was in began collapsing, and how she thought she would bleed to death.   She said she received first aid care from fellow Africans who she ran to before being taken to hospital.   She explained that shattered glasses are still in her body and she can barely stand or walk.   Speaking from her hospital bed where she was covered in bandages, Nkiru said she almost fainted from blood loss before hospital staff attended to her after alm...

CCTV captures moment a nanny rescued her boss' child during the explosion that rocked Beirut

A nanny is currently being celebrated online after a video of her rescuing her boss's daughter during the explosion that rocked Beirut, surfaced online.   The video shows the nanny moving swiftly to carry the child away after the explosion shattered some parts of their home. The timely intervention of the nanny saved the child from getting injured or being killed.    Watch the video below.

Beirut explosion hurls BBC journalist across room during live interview (video)

A video shows the moment a BBC journalist was thrown across a room during an interview as a huge explosion rocked Lebanon's capital city Beirut.   In the clip from the interview, BBC News Arabic journalist Maryam Toumi is seen speaking to her interviewee, Faisal Al-Aseel, project manager at the Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy.   During the interview, Maryam Toumi hears a loud thud and she stops speaking for a second and looks around. Suddenly, a deafening shockwave tears through her building and knocks her to the ground.   The camera appears to be on the floor and debris flies around the room, while Maryam Toumi screams in the background and an alarm starts ringing.   Looking shocked, Mr Al-Aseel and another woman watch as the journalist manages to straighten her camera and pull herself back onto her feet.   The deadly blast that occurred on Tuesday, August 4, led to the death of more than 100 people and injured more than 4,0...

At least 50 people have been killed and over 2500 after a massive explosion erupted in Beirut port area, damaging buildings and vehicles in Lebanon The explosion happened at around 6pm local time at the city's port, where warehouses are believed to contain explosive materials.    Dramatic footage posted on social media shows smoke billowing from a building in the port area before an enormous fireball explodes into the sky, sending a vast shockwave across the city that was heard and felt as far away as Cyprus - more than 200km (180 miles) away. The afternoon explosion destroyed several vehicles and buildings including the house of former PM Saad Hariri, who has been confirmed safe by his party.    Beirut's Hotel Dieu Hospital is said to have admitted more than 500 wounded patients and no longer receiving more, while Lebanon's Red Cross confirmed many others were still trapped in their homes. The office of the Daily Star newspaper was among the buildings damaged in the explosion. Video posted on social media shows the ceiling caved in and glass from windows shattered on the ground. According to Zeina Khodr, an  Al Jazeera reporter in Beirut , the explosion was felt across the city. “I was kilometres away; the glass broke everywhere around me,” Khodr told Al Jazeera. “There is chaos in the streets.'
