Police arrest men for violating COVID-19 curfew, then lock him up in a crowded cell

Taking to social media, some Nigerian man in Lagos state, lamented about their experience at the police cell. According to them, they were arrested for flouting the 10pm curfew put in place by the Federal government to curb the spread of  COVID-19  in the state. According to the men, there was heavy traffic in Lagos on Wednesday, so they couldn’t beat the curfew hour. The police officers enforcing the traffic in Ikeja arrested them and threw them in a crowded cell where none of the COVID-19 protocols such as social distancing was observed. Twitter user, Osinaike Joseph, who shared videos from the cell, alleged that the police officers refused to release some of them who were visibly sick. They accused the police of demanding bribe from them before their release. The United States' top infectious disease expert, Dr Anthony Fauci has said that people should wear googles for complete protection from Covid-19 as the virus can enter the body through any mucosal surface - including the mouth, nose or eyes.   According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Coronavirus is primarily contagious through respiratory droplets expelled when people cough or sneeze, but growing evidence suggests that droplets from just regular speaking or breathing may be able to spread the disease too.    These droplets can get into the eyes, too, according to Dr Fauci. US TV show host, Andy Cohen reveals he has 'robust' COVID-19 antibodies but is prohibited from donating them because he's gay

American TV show host, Andy Cohen is speaking out about how he has strong COVID-19 antibodies but is restricted from donating them because he's gay.    Cohen revealed he tested positive for the virus on March 20 but has fully recovered since then.    During an appearance on "The View" on Tuesday, July 28 the Bravo TV host said he's learned he has "robust" antibodies since recovering from COVID-19.    "I had another test last week for COVID and to see what my antibodies were," he said in the interview. Belarus president, Alexander Lukashenko reveals he tested positive for Coronavirus after telling people they could avoid it by drinking vodka

Belarusian President, Alexander Lukashenko on Tuesday July 28, announced he had asymptomatic COVID-19 but has already recovered from the virus.   He made the announcement at a meeting with security officials ahead of the country's election in two weeks' time.    'Today you are meeting a man who managed to survive the coronavirus on his feet. This is what doctors concluded yesterday. Asymptomatic,' Lukashenko said.   'As I said, 97% of our population carry this infection asymptomatically,' he added. He did not give a source for that figure.   President Lukashenko previously described fears over the pandemic as 'psychosis' and suggested that people drink vodka and go to the sauna to stay healthy and stave off the virus.   Belarus, with a population of 9.5 million, has recorded 67,366 coronavirus cases with 543 deaths.

Facebook, Twitter delete videos of doctor making COVID-19 cure claims

Social media platforms like  Facebook  and  Twitter  as well as video streaming site, Youtube, have deleted videos by an American-based physician, Dr Stella Immanuel, who claimed to have recorded a 100 per cent success rate in the treatment of COVID-19 using hydroxychloroquine. The video was first published by Breitbart News, a right-wing medium co-founded by Steve Bannon, a former aide to American President, Donald Trump. In the video, which was shot in front of the United States Supreme Court, Dr Immanuel is seen with seven others wearing white lab coats calling themselves “America’s Frontline Doctors” and addressing the press. President Trump, who is up for reelection in November, shared multiple versions of the video with his 84 million  Twitter  followers on Monday night. Nigerian-trained US-based medical doctor who went viral when she said she has cured hundreds of Covid-19 patients with hydroxychloroquine, has threatened Facebook for taking down her page following her viral interview.   Dr Stella Immanuel spoke out during a press conference at Washington. She stated that the antimalarial drug, hydroxychloroquine, zinc, and antibacterial drug, Zithromax were effective in the treatment of Coronavirus. She went on to accuse her colleagues, public figures, and pharmaceutical companies of cover-up (read  here ).   In another video, she challenged CNN host Chris Cuomo and physician Anthony Fauci. A Nigerian-born and trained physician, Dr Stella Emmanuel, is trending on social media after delivering an emotional COVID-19 speech in the United States on Monday. Speaking at a news conference in Washington, Emmanuel claimed that hydroxychloroquine, zinc and Zithromax were effective cures for the virus. The Nigerian spoke during the event organised by a group of American doctors under the aegis of “America’s Frontline Doctors” in front of the US Supreme Court in Washington DC. The doctors are holding a two-day “White Coat Summit” at the Capitol Hill to address what they call a “massive disinformation campaign” surrounding the virus. Emmanuel dismissed experts’ warning that hydroxychloroquine could cause serious heart problems for coronavirus patients, citing her experience with the use of the drug. Man Accused Of Using Coronavirus Relief Funds To Buy $318k Lamborghini

A Florida man has been accused of fraudulently obtaining nearly $4 million from the Paycheck Protection Program and using part of the money to buy a $318,000 Lamborghini. The man, David T. Hines, 29, of Miami, was arrested Friday July 24 and charged with one count of bank fraud, one count of making false statements to a financial institution and one count of engaging in transactions in unlawful proceeds, the Department of Justice said in a news release. Federal agents seized the car, valued at $318,000, and $3.4 million from his bank accounts when he was arrested, the Justice Department said. The criminal complaint against Hines was unsealed on Monday July 27, upon his initial appearance before U.S. Chief Magistrate Judge John J. O’Sullivan in the Southern District of Florida. The complaint alleges that Hines sought approximately $13.5 million in PPP loans through applications on behalf of several companies, the DOJ news release said. Rahmat Abdullahi, the Council Secretary of Abuja Municipal Area Council revealed that she contracted Covid-19 "in the course of service" and she infected her daughter.   She explained that it was a period of "indescribable pain and trauma".   Thankfully, both mother and daughter are better now and have returned home.   She wrote: "I contracted #COVID19 in the course of service then shared the virus with my daughter. Indescribable pain and trauma... Today, my lovely daughter and I are back home hale and hearty. AlhamduliLlah, and thank you all for your love and prayers. We defeated coronavirus!"

He also said that the reason behind the increment was that the coach previously carried 88 passengers but when they resume the service, the coach will be carrying just 40 passengers. Coronavirus: Edo Records 104 New Cases As Governorship Campaign Gears Up

Edo State topped the COVID-19 daily chart on Sunday with 104 new cases. This is even as the governorship election campaign moves to full swing. According to the official report of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Nigeria recorded a total of 556 cases with Lagos and Federal Capital Territory recording 97 and 70 cases, respectively.
