Ten of Africa’s biggest musical artists are uniting to record “ Stand Together ”, a rallying call to all Africans to unite against COVID-19. With artists from seven African countries, the song is a powerful reminder that no one is safe from COVID-19 until everyone is protected from the disease. Participating artists include 2Baba (Nigeria), Ben Pol (Tanzania), Teni (Nigeria), Yemi Alade (Nigeria), Amanda Black (South Africa), Stanley Enow (Cameroon), Gigi la Mayne (South Africa), Prodigio (Angola), Betty G (Ethiopia) and Ahmed Soultan (Morocco). “ Stand Together ” is produced by Cobhams Asuquo, with video production credit in partnership with MTV Base and the Nelson Mandela Foundation.

Big Brother Naija Housemate, Nengi, has emerged the winner of first Head of House challenge for the ‘LockDown’ edition. The position of HoH was assumed by a winner of the weekly task as instructed by “Biggie”. Housemates were assigned the task of selecting the Head of House after playing a Betway HoH game.

The 2018 and 2019 Scholarship beneficiaries of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, on Monday, 20/07/2020, assembled at the Nigerian High Commission, London, to cry out to Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari over the non-payment of their tuition fee by the NDDC, IgbereTV reports. The scholars asked President Buhari to speedily effect the payment, because they stand the risk of eviction from their institutions and subsequent deportation, as their institutions had already threatened to stop their scholarship programmes. A letter jointly sent by the scholars to President Buhari reads in part: “Your Excellency, we have continually been harassed by series of letters from our institutions threatening to withdraw their service. THE Commandant of the Ekiti State Security Network code-named Amotekun, Brig.-Gen. Joe Komolafe (rtd), has said the corps will use supernatural and modern security techniques to combat banditry, kidnapping and other crimes. He spoke yesterday at Efon Alaaye during a sensitisation tour of Ekiti West, Efon Alaaye and Ijero local governments. The commandant said the security outfit would use ancient Yoruba tactics of securing territories and fishing out criminals from their hideout. He said neglect of local and ancient patterns of exposing criminals was one of the factors responsible for the rising case of crimes. Komolafe urged monarchs to deploy supernatural prowess to secure people’s lives and belongings. Ahead of the planned partial closure of the third mainland bridge beginning from this Friday, July 24, the Lagos state Commissioner for Transportation, Frederic Oladeinde has explained why the maintenance works for the bridge weren’t carried out during the lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In an interview with TVC this morning July 20, Oladeinde said ”When we had COVID, nobody understood it and also remember that the people we were sending to fix the road are also human beings so we needed to understand the evolution of COVID and how we would then structure the guidelines around it.
