 National Hospital Abuja in search of relatives of an unconscious man brought in after he was knocked down by a car (photos)


The management of Abuja National Hospital is in search of the relatives of an unconscious man, pictured above, who was brought to the hospital after he was knocked down by a fast-moving vehicle along an airport road in the Federal Capital Territory on Tuesday, August 18.

 

Anyone with useful information about the man should contact the hospital's Trauma Intensive Care Unit.

Lady arrested for staging her own kidnap says she did it to test her sister's love for her (photo)

A 37-year-old woman, Torkwase Queen Ayakpa, who was arrested by men of the FCT police command for staging her own kidnap, says she did it to find out if her sister loves her.   Ayakpa was one of 24 suspects paraded by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) police command for various offenses on Wednesday, July 29.   Ayakpa, who is a hairstylist, conspired with one Fidelis Ikule, 36, to stage her kidnap. She told the police that she also did it to extort N20, 000 from her sister because her hairstyling business was no longer doing well due to the coronavirus pandemic.   Ayakpa, a native of Benue state and Fidelis, were arrested after the police traced the calls they were making for the ransom to Fidelis's house in Mashafa Village, Mpape, Abuja, where they were holing up.

  The Jigawa state chapter of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has threatened to boycott the 2020 Annual General Meeting of the bar if the decision to withdraw the invitation of Kaduna state governor, Nasir el-Rufai, is not reversed.   The NBA on Thursday, August 20, announced the withdrawal of Governor el-Rufai's invitation, following a protest by some lawyers who argued that the governor is well known for 'human rights abuse,' and therefore shouldn't be invited to their meeting.   In a statement released, the chairman of NBA in Jigawa state, Abubakar Garba, argued that the governor has not been given a fair hearing to defend himself from the allegations of human rights abuses some members of the profession leveled against him. The state chapter argues that if Governor Nyesom Wike, who has been accused of human rights abuses, can be invited, then they see no reason why Governor el-Rufai should be denied an invitation.   Read the statement below   ...
