 Doctors Deserve Hazard Pay - The Average DoctorThe father of a patient slapped and stabbed the medical doctor who was in charge of his child's case, it has been claimed.

 

A medical doctor narrated the story on Twitter as he discussed the "hazards" medical doctors are exposed to.

 

He wrote: "The kind of hazards Drs are exposed to is staggering! In Nigeria, added to the well-known hazards, we have assaults from patient relatives added! A female Dr was slapped and stabbed with a syringe (of unknown origin) in our Children's Emergency by the patient's father. For what?

 

"The young Registrar on call took a blood sample from the man's child and asked him to take it to the lab. The lab scientists (as they sometimes do) said the sample was inadequate. The man returned angrily. "Where is that Dr that is wasting my child's blood?" Gbas gbas gbos.

 

"The hospital needs to have a policy on assault on doctors. These things keep repeating! A doctor once had to have a CT scan done 2 rule out a head injury after being assaulted by a patient's relatives. Doctors have to feel safe in their work environment! It is unacceptable that we don't!"

Adedamola Adewale, popularly known as Adeherself, has released a statement after being released on bail from EFCC custody.   The popular social media influencer was arrested for internet fraud weeks ago and arraigned before Justice Sherifat Solebo of the Special Offences Court in Ikeja, Lagos on a one-count charge of possession of fraudulent documents.   The 20-year-old skit maker was released last week and she has now released a statement on Instagram.  If there's one thing I've learnt in life, it's to never give up no matter how hard things may get in life....  Ramon Abbas a.k.a Hushpuppi has gotten another lawyer to represent him in California.    Hushpuppi's lawyer, Gal Pissetzky who is only licensed to practice in Chicago will now be supported by Vicki Podberesky of Andrues/Podberesky law firm based in Los Angeles. The law firm specialises in representing individuals in both state and federal criminal matters, as well as companies and individuals in administrative and in-house investigations.   Pissetzky had applied to appear Pro hac vice on behalf of the alleged fraudster in California on July 22, with an attestation letter from the Attorney Registration and the Disciplinary Commission of the Supreme Court in Illinois.   Premium Times reported that Mrs Podberesky was hired as the local counsel to work with Mr Pitsetssky after Justice Pedro V Castillo of the U.S court in California granted the Chicago lawyer's Pro hac vice request.    Pissetzky who spoke with the publication,...

Lagos state government revokes 2018 land use charge

Lagos state government has cancelled 2018 land use charges.   The state Commissioner for Finance, Rabiu Olowo, announced this at a press briefing which was held today, August 5. He said the government is also reverting to pre-2018 land use charges. Olowo added that the state government has decided to waive the land use charges for 2017, 2018, and 2019 which is totalled at N5.6 billion.   Recall that in 2018, the immediate past governor of the state, Akinwumi Ambode, increased the charge on a property solely occupied by the owner for residential purposes to 0.076 per cent per annum from 0.0394 per cent. The rate for an investment property fully occupied by tenants or a third party increased from 0.394 per cent per annum to 0.76 per cent. However, after many residents opposed the increment, the rate for commercial properties  was reduced  by 50 per cent and 25 per cent for owner-occupiers.   Today, the state government said the state ...

Tolanibaj and Ka3na clashed over food in the Big Brother Naija house today July 28.    The faceoff ensued after Ka3na began serving some of the housemates food she cooked.
