 Doctors Deserve Hazard Pay - The Average DoctorThe father of a patient slapped and stabbed the medical doctor who was in charge of his child's case, it has been claimed.

 

A medical doctor narrated the story on Twitter as he discussed the "hazards" medical doctors are exposed to.

 

He wrote: "The kind of hazards Drs are exposed to is staggering! In Nigeria, added to the well-known hazards, we have assaults from patient relatives added! A female Dr was slapped and stabbed with a syringe (of unknown origin) in our Children's Emergency by the patient's father. For what?

 

"The young Registrar on call took a blood sample from the man's child and asked him to take it to the lab. The lab scientists (as they sometimes do) said the sample was inadequate. The man returned angrily. "Where is that Dr that is wasting my child's blood?" Gbas gbas gbos.

 

"The hospital needs to have a policy on assault on doctors. These things keep repeating! A doctor once had to have a CT scan done 2 rule out a head injury after being assaulted by a patient's relatives. Doctors have to feel safe in their work environment! It is unacceptable that we don't!"

A Nigerian doctor, Urey, who just passed out from National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, on Thursday, July 16th, has died. According to report, Urey who was a 2019 Batch B stream 2 corper, was involved in a fatal accident at Onne, Rivers state, on her way returning back home. Reports have it that the trailer lost control which led to the crash with her vehicle. Urey was a graduate of Imo state University, department of Optometry. Urey was said to have ‘struggled’ with medical school and finally got out successfully. Friends and family members have taken to social media to pen tributes to her.

  Prof Kemebradikumo Pondei,  the acting Managing Director of the Expanded Interim Management Committee, EIMC of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, says he is shocked that some Nigerians thought he was acting when he fainted while testifying before a House of Representatives public hearing on the alleged financial recklessness of the commission on July 20. Pondei  shocked Nigerians including the lawmakers when he slumped  during the hearing. Pondei passed out after he failed to defend the N1.3 billion he approved to provide COVID-19 palliative for members of the Commission. A video of the scene has been making the rounds on social media in which the lady and her team of fetish priests are seen standing outside of the bank premises together with other customers waiting to have access to the facility. The man who made the video of the incident said the lady’s account with the unnamed bank was debited, so she brought her fetish priest (‘Babalawo’) boyfriend to fight for her. Bristow Helicopters publicize the sack of over 100 pilots and engineers in its employ. In a statement released on Tuesday, August 4, the company said the workers laid off due to the effect of the Coronavirus pandemic on its operations.
