 Doctors Deserve Hazard Pay - The Average DoctorThe father of a patient slapped and stabbed the medical doctor who was in charge of his child's case, it has been claimed.

 

A medical doctor narrated the story on Twitter as he discussed the "hazards" medical doctors are exposed to.

 

He wrote: "The kind of hazards Drs are exposed to is staggering! In Nigeria, added to the well-known hazards, we have assaults from patient relatives added! A female Dr was slapped and stabbed with a syringe (of unknown origin) in our Children's Emergency by the patient's father. For what?

 

"The young Registrar on call took a blood sample from the man's child and asked him to take it to the lab. The lab scientists (as they sometimes do) said the sample was inadequate. The man returned angrily. "Where is that Dr that is wasting my child's blood?" Gbas gbas gbos.

 

"The hospital needs to have a policy on assault on doctors. These things keep repeating! A doctor once had to have a CT scan done 2 rule out a head injury after being assaulted by a patient's relatives. Doctors have to feel safe in their work environment! It is unacceptable that we don't!"

Orji Uzor Kalu receives rousing welcome in Abia as he returns home months after he was released from prison (photos)

Senator Orji Uzor Kalu received a rousing welcome when he returned to Abia state on Monday, July 27, months after he was released from prison.   Recall that in December 2019, the former Abia state governor was sentenced to 12 years in prison after he was convicted for N7.1bn fraud alongside his firm, Slok Nigeria Limited, and a former Director of Finance during his tenure, Ugo Udeogu. The Supreme court on May 8, 2020, then nullified Kalu and Udeogo's conviction on grounds that the presiding judge, Justice Mohammed Idris, lacked the jurisdiction to have presided over their case. He was released from Kuje prison on June 3, 2020.   On Monday, July 27, he made a triumphant return to the state and was received by his teeming supporters. See more photos below

Residents of Olaogun in Ifo Ibogun area of Ogun State were shocked on Tuesday when former president, Olusegun Obasanjo, stormed the area with a truckload of armed security operatives and allegedly physically assaulted the wife of his close relative and top confidant, Adebayo Molaja, according to Sahara reporters. No life lost as boat with 10 passengers capsizes in Lagos (photos)

No life was lost after a boat capsized at Marine Police Head-quarter, Awolowo Road, Ikoyi on Tuesday night July 28.   According to a statement released this morning by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency LASEMA, The boat capsized while en route Ikoyi from Ilashe after it t collided with an unidentified substance. A total of 10 persons(9 Adult males and a female) were involved in the incident and were rescued alive by the Marine Police in conjunction with LASEMA Response Team as no life was lost. The names of the victims are as follows Ogungbe Taiwo(Captain of the Boat) Ernest Abode Anjadick Emmanuel Isah Obima Ewere Mashack Bulus Oyefeso Oluwamayo Owoyemi Taiwo Peter Aina Oluwasanmi Lawal Gbolahan and Chinasa Temitope(female) The second boat was recovered from the water ten minutes after the first one which had 7 victims on board and the total number of victims rescued now 17 in number ( 16 Males and 1 female).

A Georgia mother and her twin sons were found dead inside a car submerged in a pond.   25-year-old ShaQuia Philpot and her 10-month-old sons, Caysen and Cassius Williams, were found after a fisherman spotted the vehicle at Mayor’s Pond in Augusta on Friday afternoon, July 24. Relatives told authorities that the family lived in Hephzibah but investigators did not disclose how the vehicle ended up in the pond in Augusta.   Their autopsies will be conducted by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to determine an official cause of death. Philpot’s mother, Myrtis Wright Bennett, confirmed their deaths in a Facebook post that reads: “The Lord only loan my daughter ShaQuia Philpot to me for 25 years my twins grandson Cassius and Caysen William for 10 months. “Lord, I didn’t know that you were going to call them home on July 24, 2020. John Newton  – 21 December 1807) was an English Anglican clergyman and abolitionist who was forced to serve as a sailor in the Royal Navy for a period.   Kaduna state governor, Nasir el-Rufai, has reacted to the decision of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) to withdraw an invitation previously extended to him to speak at its annual general meeting.   The NBA withdrew the invitation following an outcry from some lawyers who said the governor stands against what the profession represents.    In a statement released on Thursday, August 20, by his spokesperson, Muyiwa Adekeye, Governor el-Rufai described the withdrawal of his invitation as an unfortunate embrace of injustice.
