Police take over Edo Assembly complex (photos)

Police operatives have taken over Edo House of Assembly complex in Benin City. Dozens of the security officials stormed the complex while patrol vehicles were stationed around the area.   This comes a day after members of the House impeached the Deputy Speaker of the House, Yekini Idiaye. His impeachment came days after he declared his support for the APC governorship candidate, Osagie Ize-Iyamu.   According to reports, the move was to forestall an alleged planned attack on the facility.   Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), Ayoola Ajala, led the operation, which is ongoing.    

Update: Police arrest officer who allegedly shot couple’s car in Lagos

The Lagos state police command has arrested the police officer who allegedly fired a gunshot at a moving vehicle of a couple with their children inside at the Central Business District, Dr Nurudeen Olowopopo Way, in front of Japaul House, Ikeja, Lagos state on Sunday, July 26.   LIB earlier shared the viral video of the damaged car of the couple after the police officer allegedly shot at it.   Twitter user @ewejeoyewole, shared the video online and said the wife of the man who was riding the car, fainted shortly after the officer fired the gunshot that shattered the glass of their car. The police officer dressed in a Mobile Police outfit was seen brandishing an AK 47 gun. Commotion as police allegedly shoots at car conveying a man and his family resulting in the wife losing consciousness while the kids watched in horror

There was a commotion on Sunday, July 26, when a police officer allegedly shot at a car occupied by a man and his family, allegedly over refusal to pay a bribe.   The incident reportedly happened around Japaul house in Ikeja.   According to Ayodele Oyewole who shared the video, the wife fainted after the police officer shot at their car, shattering the rear windshield. Videos shared online show people confronting the police officer after the incident. They put the unconscious woman into the car and asked the police officer to drive her to a hospital. The children of the woman who fainted can be seen crying and calling out for their mum as they witnessed the horror play out.   Giving an update today, Ayodele said the husband has decided not to pursue the case anymore because the police have begged him and promised to repair his car.   WATCH VIDEO BELOW

“We Were Treated Like Criminals” – Man Narrates How Police Extorted Him Of Cash For Looking Like A Fraudster

A man has taken to social media to narrate how some police officers extorted him of cash for looking like an internet fraudster. He also narrated how he was treated like a criminal by the officers. Taking to Twitter, @DanbabaNaija, narrated that the incident occurred on the 25th of July, 2020, when he and his cousin traveled from Lagos to Benue state. Calling for the dismantling of check points on the Ore-Benin expressway, @DanbabaNaija, claimed that the officers requested for N150,000 from him, before releasing them. IGP ORDERED INVESTIGATION ON THE TWO POLICE DEHUMANIZING A LADY THEY MET AT THE HOME OF A SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBER AND KIDNAPPER IN IBADAN

The Inspector-General of Police, Adamu Mohammed, has ordered an investigation into a viral video showing some police officers in Ibadan, Oyo state harassing a female suspect.   The officers had gone to the home of a suspected kidnapper and armed robber to arrest him and there they met the 25-year-old lady who gave her name as Towobola.   The policemen, after taking the kidnap suspect away, faced Towobola, handcuffed her and accused her of sleeping with the alleged kidnapper.   One of the police officers who identified himself as ‘Wyclef’, brought out his phone and started to film the Tobowola as he asked her questions about her sex life.   Wyclef in the video mocked Towobola, telling her that young ladies are fond of dating men with questionable wealth which often lands them in trouble. He stated that if he were to woo Towobola, she would not give in to his advances but would rather have sex with criminals.   He went on to ask her i...

15 TEENAGERS RESCUED BY THE POLICE FROM A TORTURE HOUSE IN NIGER STATE

The police, acting on reliable information received, arrested one Umar Ahmed, 46, Anguwan Gwari Suleja, for keeping about fifteen children in a dehumanizing condition in the guise of Almajiri School. The children who are of ages ranging between 2yrs-10yrs were rescued from the suspect’s house and three chains used to hold their legs were also recovered. The victims have since been handed over to the Niger State Child’s Rights Agency. The suspect was alleged to have been cruel on the children under the guise of Almajiri schooling.
