Lebanon blast was caused by welder as death toll passes 100
It has been claimed that the huge explosion in Beirut, Lebanon, that killed over 100 people and injured more than 4,000, was caused by a welder at work. Close to where the welder was working, there was "highly explosive sodium nitrate" confiscated from a ship by Lebanese authorities and placed in one of the warehouses located near the harbour. The ammonium nitrate - more than 2,750 tons - had been stored in the warehouse for six years. Security sources in the country have claimed the welder sparked an initial fire that in turn ignited the chemicals, causing a blast that has been compared to a "nuclear bomb." Former Broadway actress, Royana Black dies at 47 after battling Leukemia
Hollywood actress, Royana Black, who starred in Broadway's Brighton Beach Memoirs, has died. She was aged 47. Black died in Los Angeles on July 14 following a battle with Leukemia, her family have revealed in her obituary announced Tuesday, July 28. According to a GoFundMe campaign set up for her memorial, Black had acute myeloid leukemia, and her death came "very suddenly". A lecturer at the University of Benin in Edo State, Dr Stella Okotie, was on Monday night crushed to death at the university’s main gate. Egypt court sentences five young women to prison for posting "indecent" dance videos on TikTok
An Egyptian court has sentenced five young women to two years in prison for posting "indecent" dance videos on TikTok. The prosecution statement named two of the defendants 20-year-old student Haneen Hossam and 22-year-old Mawada Eladhm and said the other three helped run their social media accounts. The women were also fined 300,000 Egyptian pounds (A$26,000) each for "violating the values and principles of the Egyptian family," inciting debauchery and promoting human trafficking, according to a statement from the public prosecutor. Haneen Hossam and Mawada Eladhm rose to fame though TikTok, amassing millions of followers for their video snippets which include sharing of footage of themselves wearing makeup, posing in cars, dancing in kitchens and making funny skits.
