Two airplanes collide at Lagos airport

A wing tip accident was witnessed at the cargo area of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos on Wednesday July 29. The accident occurred when a Middle East Airlines plane was coming to park on the apron while a Turkish Airlines aircraft was taxiing out. Passengers on the Turkish Airlines flight were made to disembark and it was further learnt that the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) have been notified and would issue a statement on the incident.

Orji Uzor Kalu receives rousing welcome in Abia as he returns home months after he was released from prison (photos)

Senator Orji Uzor Kalu received a rousing welcome when he returned to Abia state on Monday, July 27, months after he was released from prison. Recall that in December 2019, the former Abia state governor was sentenced to 12 years in prison after he was convicted for N7.1bn fraud alongside his firm, Slok Nigeria Limited, and a former Director of Finance during his tenure, Ugo Udeogu. The Supreme court on May 8, 2020, then nullified Kalu and Udeogo's conviction on grounds that the presiding judge, Justice Mohammed Idris, lacked the jurisdiction to have presided over their case.
