Police arrest men for violating COVID-19 curfew, then lock him up in a crowded cell

Taking to social media, some Nigerian man in Lagos state, lamented about their experience at the police cell.

According to them, they were arrested for flouting the 10pm curfew put in place by the Federal government to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the state.

According to the men, there was heavy traffic in Lagos on Wednesday, so they couldn’t beat the curfew hour.

The police officers enforcing the traffic in Ikeja arrested them and threw them in a crowded cell where none of the COVID-19 protocols such as social distancing was observed.

Twitter user, Osinaike Joseph, who shared videos from the cell, alleged that the police officers refused to release some of them who were visibly sick. They accused the police of demanding bribe from them before their release.

Singer Tamar Braxton has been rushed to hospital unresponsive after reports of heramid reports of a possible suicide attempt. Toni Braxton was rushed to hospital by ambulance after she was found unresponsive by her boyfriend David Adefeso at the Ritz Carlton Residences in downtown Los Angeles, it’s reported. David called 911 and said he believed it may have been a suicide attempt, according to The Blast. Russian powerlifter breaks both knees as attempt to squat 400kg goes horribly wrong in terrifying video

  The Russian powerlifting champion fractured both of his knees while attempting to squat 400kg (880lb).    Defending champion Alexander Sedykh was competing in the World Raw Powerlifting Federation (WRPF) European Championships near Moscow when the terrifying incident occurred.   In the shocking video, Sedykh's legs can be seen shaking after holding the weight on his shoulders. As he prepares for the squat with the enormous weight, both of his knees buckled horribly, and he cried out in anguish. A Nigerian doctor, Urey, who just passed out from National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, on Thursday, July 16th, has died. According to report, Urey who was a 2019 Batch B stream 2 corper, was involved in a fatal accident at Onne, Rivers state, on her way returning back home. Reports have it that the trailer lost control which led to the crash with her vehicle. Urey was a graduate of Imo state University, department of Optometry. Urey was said to have ‘struggled’ with medical school and finally got out successfully. Friends and family members have taken to social media to pen tributes to her.

  US President, Donald Trump has said he will pardon someone who is “very, very important” on Tuesday, August 18.   Trump made the announcement on Monday night, August 17, while speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One.   Gbenga Akosile, the Chief Press Secretary to the Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has recounted his experience after recovering from the novel Coronavirus.   Gbenga in a post shared on social media, said himself, his wife and driver tested positive for the virus in July.   The media aide said the experience was scary for him as he had never felt that way before.   Nigerians have reacted to President Buhari's media aide, Bashir Ahmad's tweet which surfaced in the wake of the death penalty handed out to a Kano singer, Yahaya Sharif-Aminu who was found guilty of committing blasphemy for a song he circulated via WhatsApp in March 2020.    Bashir Ahmad had in the tweet shared in 2015, supported the death penalty for blasphemy which he described as his "belief".    The tweet read;  I cant pretend or keep silent. I support the death penalty for BLASPHEMY. That's my belief and I do not and will never support #SaveKanoNine The tweet then led to an outcry from Nigerians who asked how he is different from Boko Haram insurgents who mete out the same treatment to those they accuse of blasphemy.  Here are some tweets below:
