Massive explosion shakes Lebanon's capital Beirut (videos)

A massive explosion erupted in Lebanon's capital Beirut on Tuesday, August 4. 

 

The afternoon blast shook several parts of the capital with Local Red Cross reporting hundreds injured and widespread damage.

 

Local TV stations reported the blast was at Beirut's port inside an area where firecrackers were stored, while an Associated Press photographer near Beirut's port said he witnessed people wounded on the ground and widespread destruction in central Beirut.

Taylor Swift donates £23,000 to teenager who set up a GoFundMe so she could attend university

  Taylor Swift has donated over £23,000 to a teenager who started a GoFundMe appeal so she can go to University.   Vitoria Mario, a Tottenham teenager, wants to become a mathematician. In her online appeal, she explained that despite being offered an unconditional place at the University of Warwick to study mathematics, she could not afford to take it up.      Taylor Swift found her GoFundMe appeal and decided to make a generous donation while leaving a touching message for the teenager.   Taylor wrote to the teen: "Vitoria, I came across your story online and am so inspired by your drive and dedication to turning your dreams into reality. I want to gift you the rest of your goal amount.   \ On Wednesday, August 12, a Nigerian lady named Immaculate Okochu lost her life in an accident, weeks to her wedding leaving her groom-to-be shattered and in complete sadness. Immaculate, who was set to marry her fiance in October after she had her introduction in March, was crushed to death by a truck while heading to work in Lagos. A Nigerian doctor, Urey, who just passed out from National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, on Thursday, July 16th, has died. According to report, Urey who was a 2019 Batch B stream 2 corper, was involved in a fatal accident at Onne, Rivers state, on her way returning back home. Reports have it that the trailer lost control which led to the crash with her vehicle. Urey was a graduate of Imo state University, department of Optometry. Urey was said to have ‘struggled’ with medical school and finally got out successfully. Friends and family members have taken to social media to pen tributes to her.

Nigerian-trained US-based doctor threatens Facebook for taking down her posts after she said on national TV that she has cured COVID-19 patients with hydroxychloroquine

Nigerian-trained US-based medical doctor who went viral when she said she has cured hundreds of Covid-19 patients with hydroxychloroquine, has threatened Facebook for taking down her page following her viral interview.   Dr Stella Immanuel spoke out during a press conference at Washington. She stated that the antimalarial drug, hydroxychloroquine, zinc, and antibacterial drug, Zithromax were effective in the treatment of Coronavirus. She went on to accuse her colleagues, public figures, and pharmaceutical companies of cover-up (read  here ).   In another video, she challenged CNN host Chris Cuomo and physician Anthony Fauci. Facebook, Twitter delete videos of doctor making COVID-19 cure claims

Social media platforms like  Facebook  and  Twitter  as well as video streaming site, Youtube, have deleted videos by an American-based physician, Dr Stella Immanuel, who claimed to have recorded a 100 per cent success rate in the treatment of COVID-19 using hydroxychloroquine. The video was first published by Breitbart News, a right-wing medium co-founded by Steve Bannon, a former aide to American President, Donald Trump. In the video, which was shot in front of the United States Supreme Court, Dr Immanuel is seen with seven others wearing white lab coats calling themselves “America’s Frontline Doctors” and addressing the press. President Trump, who is up for reelection in November, shared multiple versions of the video with his 84 million  Twitter  followers on Monday night.
