Court orders arrest of former NASS Clerk, Sani Omolori

A federal high court in Abuja has issued a warrant for the arrest of the immediate past Clerk of the National Assembly, Mohammed Omolori.

 

This is coming after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) filed an application before the court, alleging that the respondent had ignored its invitation for him to report to its office following a petition filed against him. 

 

The anti-graft agency which said it is investigating the diversion of 14 Toyota Hilux vehicles and 13 Peugeot 508 valued at over N400 million, disclosed that it has invited the Secretary of the National Assembly Commission, Adamu Fika, Mr Oluseye Ajakaye and others to its office.

 

The EFCC noted that the invitees made revelations indicting Mr Omolori who refused to honor its invitation on two occassions. 

 

Justice Suleman Belgore who listened to EFCC's counsel S.N. Robert, granted the order the agency sought,

Magu Probe: Olukoyede, EFCC Secretary, Suspended

Some officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have received letters of suspension, TheCable understands. Although details of those suspended are yet to be made public,  TheCable  learnt that Olanipekun Olukoyede, secretary to the commission, is among those who received the letters. The development is not unconnected to the ongoing probe of Ibrahim Magu, suspended acting chairman of the EFCC. Magu was arrested on July 6 and whisked to the presidential villa in Abuja, where he appeared before a panel set up by President Muhammadu Buhari to probe the operations of the EFCC under him. The panel is headed by Ayo Salami, retired president of the appeal court. On July 14, Abubakar Malami, attorney-general of the federation (AGF), sent a letter to Mohammed Umar, acting EFCC chairman, notifying him of the suspension of 12 directors in the commission. Demitra “Mimi” Roche, who appeared on the Oxygen reality show “Bad Girls Club,” has passed away at the age of 34. Record producer and founder of Valholla Entertainment in Miami, where Roche had worked as vice president of A&R since 2011, announced her death via Twitter. “I’m at a loss for words. NDDC Spent N4.2b In One Day, Akpabio Tells Reps

Contract splitting is rampant in the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Niger Delta Affairs Minister Godswill Akpabio, said on Monday. According to him, the management of the agency indulges in splitting contracts to outwit the minister and evade approval. Speaking before the House of Representatives Committee on Niger Delta in Abuja, the minister alleged that the agency spent “over N4.2 billion in a day in tranches of N49 million.” The committee is probing how N40 billion was spent by the Interim Management Committee (IMC). Akpabio was invited with the Acting Managing Director of the NDDC, Prof. Kemebradikumo Pondei. Pondei fainted during the proceedings and had to be revived and taken to the hospital.
