NJC recommends 22 judges to Buhari for appointment to Supreme Court and others

The National Judicial Council has recommended the appointment of more judges for the Supreme Court and other courts following its second virtual meeting held on August 11 and 12, 2020. NJC's Director of Information, Mr Soji Oye, said the council presided over by its chairman, who is also the Chief Justice of Nigeria Tanko Muhammad, recommended a total of 22 judicial officers across various courts, including the Supreme Court, following a steady decline in the number of its justices in the last two years. Four of the nominees were appointed to the Supreme Court while the others were nominated to other Nigerian courts. A hardhat died and at least three other people were hurt in a chain-reaction accident Thursday at a Manhattan building undergoing facade repair work, authorities said. 7 members of a family die of food poisoning in Zamfara, husband runs mad

A food poisoning incident at Auki village of Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State has left 7 members of the same family, consisting of five children and two housewives, dead. It was further learnt that the husband of the late woman, Mallam Hassan lawali also developed a psychiatric disorder after eating food prepared with corn on Tuesday night. An eyewitness told Nigerian Tribune; “After they ate the food, they started to develop stomach pains, three died instantly while four people were taken to General Hospital, Bungudu where they were also pronounced dead”. While the Doctor on duty confirmed that the members of the family died of food poisoning, it was also gathered that Mallam Hassan could neither speak nor eat.

Young female politician, Ndi Kato releases graphic photos and names of her kinsmen who were murdered in Kafanchan

di Kato, a 30-year-old female politician, has cried out on Twitter after her clansmen were murdered in their homes by bandits. For months, Kato has joined others on Twitter in condemning the southern Kaduna killings. Unfortunately, the killers eventually got to her home town and massacred some of her family members. Refusing to let them be just statistics, Kato decided to publish their names and age on Twitter. One of the victims is a 4-year-old. She also shared graphic photos and videos of the deceased and aftermath of the attack on her family members and kinsmen in Kafanchan. Kafanchan is a mainly Christian-dominated town in the southern part of Kaduna State. The killings in Southern Kaduna has been going on for months now and Nigerians have condemned the state government for not taking adequate actions to curtail the killings in southern Kaduna.
