Popular Nollywood actress, Foluke Daramola-Salako, has revealed that about 75% of rape cases her organization had handled were perpetrated by religious leaders. Daramola-Salako disclosed this during an Instagram live session on Saturday while narrating how she was raped by her tenant when she was 17. According to her, “75% of the cases I have on my table are from religious leaders and most times we don’t get to the end of it. "This is because when we start investigating the cases, the family would come and tell us we should leave the religious leader to God.” She further dismissed claims that indecent dressing by ladies is responsible for the increase in the number of rape cases. American rapper, T.I has called out Kanye West for his recent statement during the presidential hopeful’s first campaign rally in South Carolina. Kanye West during his first campaign rally said “Harriet Tubman never really freed the slaves, but just brought the slaves to work for other White people.” Tubman was an American abolitionist who escaped and made some 13 missions to rescue approximately 70 enslaved people before her death. Truck that carried the container that crushed FAAN workers to death in Lagos had no road worthiness – VIS official tells court

  The trial of the owner and driver of the truck carrying an unlatched container that fell and crushed two workers of the Federal Aviation Authority of Nigeria FAAN, Chidinma Ajoku, and her colleague, Chima Nnaekpe, and one other person, commenced at the Lagos State High Court on Thursday, August 20.   Chidinma and Chima boarded a commercial bus back home after the close of work on July 26. Sadly, the container on a truck fell on the commercial bus they boarded and crushed them to death. The bus driver also died in the accident.   At the first sitting which was on Thursday, August 20, the state Attorney General of Lagos state, Moyosore Onigbanjo (SAN), amended the charges against the two defendants to 7 counts as against the earlier 3 counts filed against them. In the amended charge, the truck owner and the driver are facing 6 counts of involuntary manslaughter and one count of liability for the safety of vehicles which caused the deaths...

An Egyptian court has sentenced five young women to two years in prison for posting "indecent" dance videos on TikTok.     The prosecution statement named two of the defendants 20-year-old student Haneen Hossam and 22-year-old Mawada Eladhm and said the other three helped run their social media accounts.   The women were also fined 300,000 Egyptian pounds (A$26,000) each for "violating the values and principles of the Egyptian family," inciting debauchery and promoting human trafficking, according to a statement from the public prosecutor.   Haneen Hossam and Mawada Eladhm rose to fame though TikTok, amassing millions of followers for their video snippets which include sharing of footage of themselves wearing makeup, posing in cars, dancing in kitchens and making funny skits.   However, their social media stardom became their undoing in a country, where citizens can land in prison for vague crimes such as “misusing social media,” “disseminati...
