Woman rewards her parents for ignoring friends who advised them against investing in her education

A woman has narrated how she rewarded her parents for investing in her education, despite advice from people telling them that a girl child education was a waste and will only benefit her in-laws.

 

@NqobaKonkhe said her father was a security guard in a company before being promoted to a supervisor. His new position allowed him to put one of his children in the company's private school.

 

The man chose his first child, a girl, to go to the private school. 

 

However, people adviced him against it and told him to pick his son because the girl will most likely get married or pregnant before finishing school.

 

Her parents ignored the advice and allowed her to continue to a private high school. 

 

While in high school, friends warned her parents again that the investment on their daughter will be used to better another family, not theirs. But her parents ignored them again.

 

The opposite turned out to be the case. Her brothers started having children and couldn't help the family much so the daughter who they put through school started working during university to provide for her family as her dad got retrenched and her mum resigned due to ill health.

 

She said she saved up enough and started sending her siblings to school, one after the other She also bought a car for her parents to use in selling vegetables so that they could provide for her nephews while she used her income to see her siblings through school.

 

She said she saw her brother through high school, paid for her sister's nursing school and paid for another of her sisters to go to college.

 

She added that last Saturday was her father's 70th birthday and she surprised him by buying him the car he always wanted. She said that he was emotional as he prayed for her and thanked God for validating the decision they made to send her to school when everyone else said it was a waste.

Woman robbed of her baby and thrown into septic tank is rescued after three days

  A woman has been rescued from a septic tank three days after a man who stole her baby from her threw her in there.   The nursing mother, named Mrs Chizoba Eke was pulled alive but injured from the septic tank of an incomplete building located in Igwuruta, Ikwerre Local Government Area, Rivers State.   Her attacker, simply identified as Chinedu was apprehended when he tried to traffic her six months old baby through Omerelu, Rivers border with Imo State.   Mrs Eke, the nursing mother was kidnapped from her home with her baby on August 17, 2020, and forced into a septic tank after a severe assault by her abductor.   The husband of the victim, Mr Eke, also alleged that Chinedu had attempted to rape his wife when she was pregnant with the newborn.   Mr Eke said, “I was invited by the police to come and identify our baby, having lodged a complaint when both my wife and baby went missing.   Police officers are on the lookout for anyone with information about a set of goats that 'hijacked a police car in broad daylight'.   In the words of the Isle of White, UK police officers, they are in the hunt for some badly behaved 'kids' who damaged their vehicle and are appealing for witnesses.   According to police, the goats were pictured standing on top the police vehicle near Newport on Wednesday afternoon August 19, as Police had been called to the area after an unexploded bomb from World War II was discovered.    The police called the Royal Navy Explosives Team, travelled from Portsmouth to help destroy the unexploded bomb.     The officers, after detonating the bomb, then returned to their car only to find their car damaged by the 'hooligans'.     The police are now asking if anyone can recognize the goats from the picture.    A police statement published on the police department's official Facebook page said: ‘In a...

UK high commission to replace expired visa for free for Nigerians as it restarts operations

Lady arrested for staging her own kidnap says she did it to test her sister's love for her (photo)

A 37-year-old woman, Torkwase Queen Ayakpa, who was arrested by men of the FCT police command for staging her own kidnap, says she did it to find out if her sister loves her.   Ayakpa was one of 24 suspects paraded by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) police command for various offenses on Wednesday, July 29.   Ayakpa, who is a hairstylist, conspired with one Fidelis Ikule, 36, to stage her kidnap. She told the police that she also did it to extort N20, 000 from her sister because her hairstyling business was no longer doing well due to the coronavirus pandemic.   Ayakpa, a native of Benue state and Fidelis, were arrested after the police traced the calls they were making for the ransom to Fidelis's house in Mashafa Village, Mpape, Abuja, where they were holing up.
