Russian powerlifter breaks both knees as attempt to squat 400kg goes horribly wrong in terrifying video

The Russian powerlifting champion fractured both of his knees while attempting to squat 400kg (880lb).

Defending champion Alexander Sedykh was competing in the World Raw Powerlifting Federation (WRPF) European Championships near Moscow when the terrifying incident occurred.

In the shocking video, Sedykh's legs can be seen shaking after holding the weight on his shoulders. As he prepares for the squat with the enormous weight, both of his knees buckled horribly, and he cried out in anguish.

He fractured both his knees in the incident and also ruptured his quadriceps muscles.

Sedykh was rushed to the hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery on his legs.

The powerlifting champion, who must now learn how to walk again said: “The main thing is that I must lie motionless in bed for two months.”

“Then I’ll be taught how to walk again. It’ll take time to recuperate. I’ve had my quadriceps resewn and my knees put back together.”

Sedykh also said he will continue his weightlifting career.

The Jigawa state chapter of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has threatened to boycott the 2020 Annual General Meeting of the bar if the decision to withdraw the invitation of Kaduna state governor, Nasir el-Rufai, is not reversed. The NBA on Thursday, August 20, announced the withdrawal of Governor el-Rufai's invitation, following a protest by some lawyers who argued that the governor is well known for 'human rights abuse,' and therefore shouldn't be invited to their meeting. In a statement released, the chairman of NBA in Jigawa state, Abubakar Garba, argued that the governor has not been given a fair hearing to defend himself from the allegations of human rights abuses some members of the profession leveled against him. The state chapter argues that if Governor Nyesom Wike, who has been accused of human rights abuses, can be invited, then they see no reason why Governor el-Rufai should be denied an invitation. Nigerian-trained US-based medical doctor who went viral when she said she has cured hundreds of Covid-19 patients with hydroxychloroquine, has threatened Facebook for taking down her page following her viral interview. Dr Stella Immanuel spoke out during a press conference at Washington.
