President Buhari had a closed-door meeting with former President Goodluck Jonathan, at the statehouse, Abuja on Tuesday, August 18.

The reason for the meeting is yet to be disclosed. It is however believed it was about the ongoing mediation in the political crisis in Mali.

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) appointed the former president to head the political reconciliation in Mali where there is leadership tussle.

A Nigerian man has shared his experience with a lady who stopped on the road to interrogate him after she saw him walking around with his disgruntled niece. According to Twitter user @Ebuka_Eclat, he was walking along the road in Lagos with his niece who was visibly angry when the lady stopped and took her time to inquire who the ''angry child'' was to him. The lady went as far as speaking with the mother of the child to ensure he wasn't about to abduct the child. 21-year-old man arrested for allegedly sodomizing underaged boys in Anambra

Anambra Police arrested a twenty-one-year-old named Obimeze Maduabuchi Augustine, of Ofianta village, Nsugbe, in Anambra East Local Government Area of the state for allegedly having carnal knowledge of two small boys, aged five and seven respectively. A statement from the spokesperson for the state police command, SP Haruna Mohammed, said Obimese was arrested by detectives attached to B' Division, Akwa, following a tip-off. According to the statement, the suspect voluntarily confessed to the crime and blamed his actions on peer group Haruna said the state commissioner of police, CP John B. Abang, had ordered the transfer of the case to the state criminal investigation department (CID) for discreet investigations after which the suspect would be charged to court.

Gunmen abduct Ex-commissioner’s children and NSCDC officer in Zamfara

Several unknown gunmen have abducted the two sons of Bello Dankande, a former Zamfara commissioner alongside an officer of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC). The incident, which took place at Dankande’s residence in Gamji, Bakura local government area of the state on Tuesday August 18, left one person dead and a woman with injuries. Spokesperson of Zamfara state police command, Muhammad Shehu who confirmed the incident said police officers are already on the trail of the kidnappers. He told The PUNCH on Wednesday night that Hushpuppi had not been released as being speculated in some quarters. Two young boys burnt to death over alleged phone theft in Kenya
