 Police offers N500, 000 reward for any information that would help in the re-arrest of Ibadan serial killer suspect, Sunday Shodipe


The Oyo State Police Command has announced a N500, 000 reward for any member of the public who is able to provide useful information that could lead to the re-arrest of a serial killer suspect in Ibadan, Sunday's Shodipe.

 

Shodipe who is the prime suspect in connection with the serial ritual killings of over five persons in Akinyele, Moniya in Ibadan, was paraded before newsmen on July 17. Police over the weekend announced he had escaped from police custody and was declared wanted.

 

In a statement released today, August 20, the police announced a N500, 000 reward for anyone with useful information that could lead to his arrest.

 

The statement reads


''The Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, CP Joe Nwachukwu Enwonwu, psc wishes to state that handsome reward of Five hundred thousand naira only (#500,000) awaits whoever gives useful information for the arrest of the suspected serial killer at Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo State, one Sunday Shodipe ‘m’ 19yrs who was arrested and paraded at the Oyo State Police Command Headquarters on 17th July, 2020, but later escaped from lawful custody on 11th August, 2020.

 

Consequently, the general public is hereby implored to arrest and immediately hand him over to the nearest Police Station for necessary action. The Command can be contacted on GSM Numbers: 08035632410 and 07066003536.''

25-year-old mom and her twin sons found dead inside car

A Georgia mother and her twin sons were found dead inside a car submerged in a pond.   25-year-old ShaQuia Philpot and her 10-month-old sons, Caysen and Cassius Williams, were found after a fisherman spotted the vehicle at Mayor’s Pond in Augusta on Friday afternoon, July 24. Relatives told authorities that the family lived in Hephzibah but investigators did not disclose how the vehicle ended up in the pond in Augusta.   Their autopsies will be conducted by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to determine an official cause of death. Over 4,000 couples who have applied to be wedded at the Ikoyi Marriage Registry in Lagos State will have to wait for some time to put a legal seal on their union.

The PUNCH learnt that the Ministry of Interior, which runs the marriage registry, had ordered the suspension of weddings since March because of the COVID-19 pandemic. However,  findings by our correspondent showed that those who could wait were being given the option of “change of venue” at an extra cost of between N30,000 and N50,000. According to an applicant, who spoke to our correspondent on condition of anonymity, the “change of venue” option entails that the couple will name a place of their choice where the registry officials will come to conduct the wedding. The applicant said he had applied to be wedded at the registry since early June and after paying the official N33,000 and filling all the required forms, he got an email informing him that his oath taking would be on June 14, while the wedding would be June 15. Tanker accident kills woman in Mile 2, Lagos (graphic photo)

  A woman was killed in a lone accident involving a tanker in Mile 2, Lagos.   The incident occurred at about 5:30am on Friday, August 7, near the Nigerian Army Signal Barracks.   The tanker was laden with 55,000 litres of premium motor spirit.     The recovery of Tanker is still ongoing and this has caused heavy traffic.   A spokesperson for the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Nosa Okunbor, confirmed the incident on Friday.   He noted that emergency responders were at the scene of the incident.     “LASEMA Response Team is at Mile 2, inward the Nigerian Army Signal Barracks, in recovery operation of a fully-loaded Oil Tanker conveying 55,000 litres of petrol involved in a lone accident which killed a female adult,” he added.

Lady crushed to death in Lagos few months to her wedding

  A beautiful Nigerian lady Immaculate Okochu has been crushed to death in Lagos by a truck just hours after she posted an ominous note on her Facebook page. Okochu, who was planning to wed in October, was the store manager of Cold Stone Creamery Nigeria in Apapa. On 11 August, she plastered several photos of herself and wrote: “Been a while you saw me”. It proved to be her dreamy way of saying goodbye, like Jesus of Nazareth. Her last post before then was on 6 July when she offered some apparels for sale and asked her fans to DM her. On 12 August, she also posted a selfie, wearing a yellow dress as she left her home. She didn’t return home. Her Facebook page has been inundated with condolences by her fans and relations. Idongesit Obot wrote: “Hmmmmmmm it’s really well o, rest in peace dear, only God can console your family, I don’t know you, but I heard the incident yesterday from my friend .. What a life!!!!!!”.
