Nigerian singer, Seun Kuti has shared his view about the underdevelopment witnessed across states in the country. 

 

According to the singer, the level of underdevelopment in the country is directly tied to the wealth of our elites. 

 

Seun Kuti added that if Nigerians calculate how much the country has lost and how much the elites have amassed, the numbers will almost be similar. 

 

He wrote; 

If we calculate how much we have lost and we calculate how much they have personally amassed, I can bet my life that the numbers will be almost similar. Our roads bridges hospitals schools and welfare is in their pockets. When are we going to grow enough balls to take it instead of begging and ass kissing like your favorite influencer is doing.

Gunmen abduct Ex-commissioner’s children and NSCDC officer in Zamfara

  Several unknown gunmen have abducted the two sons of   Bello Dankande, a former Zamfara commissioner alongside an officer of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).    The incident, which took place at Dankande’s residence in Gamji, Bakura local government area of the state on Tuesday August 18, left one person dead and a woman with injuries.    Spokesperson of Zamfara state police command, Muhammad Shehu who confirmed the incident said police officers are already on the trail of the kidnappers.    He said;  “At about 4:30am, a large number of armed men invaded the house and kidnapped two of his children and two others including an NSCDC officer on guard duty at the house. “One person was shot dead, while a woman was wounded in the process. “The Command further assures the former commissioner and indeed all the people of the state that it would do everything possible to get the abductees released and back ...

Two airplanes collide at Lagos airport

A wing tip accident was witnessed at the cargo area of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos on Wednesday July 29.    The accident occurred when a Middle East Airlines plane was coming to park on the apron while a Turkish Airlines aircraft was taxiing out.   Passengers on the Turkish Airlines flight were made to disembark and it was further learnt that the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) have been notified and would issue a statement on the incident.

A Nigerian doctor, Urey, who just passed out from National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, on Thursday, July 16th, has died. According to report, Urey who was a 2019 Batch B stream 2 corper, was involved in a fatal accident at Onne, Rivers state, on her way returning back home. Reports have it that the trailer lost control which led to the crash with her vehicle. Urey was a graduate of Imo state University, department of Optometry. Urey was said to have ‘struggled’ with medical school and finally got out successfully. Friends and family members have taken to social media to pen tributes to her.

21-year-old man arrested for allegedly sodomizing underaged boys in Anambra

Anambra Police arrested a twenty-one-year-old named Obimeze Maduabuchi Augustine,  of Ofianta village, Nsugbe, in Anambra East Local Government Area of the state for allegedly having carnal knowledge of two small boys, aged five and seven respectively. A statement from the spokesperson for the state police command, SP Haruna Mohammed, said Obimese was arrested by detectives attached to B' Division, Akwa, following a tip-off. According to the statement, the suspect voluntarily confessed to the crime and blamed his actions on peer group Haruna said the state commissioner of police, CP John B. Abang, had ordered the transfer of the case to the state criminal investigation department (CID) for discreet investigations after which the suspect would be charged to court.

Hushpuppi not released yet, says US lawyer

Gal Pissetzky, the legal representative of suspected Internet fraudster, Ramon Abass, aka Hushpuppi, has said the suspect is on his way to California, United States of America, for trial. He told The PUNCH on Wednesday night that Hushpuppi had not been released as being speculated in some quarters. Pissetzky, a Chicago lawyer, also noted that he was still his lawyer. “He has not been released and I am still his lawyer. He is on his way to California. Not everything you see on court documents is accurate. “Just because the jail record says ‘released’ does not mean he has been released. He is being transferred to California,” he told the PUNCH correspondent on the phone. Hushpuppi is facing trial for alleged Internet fraud.

  The father of a patient slapped and stabbed the medical doctor who was in charge of his child's case, it has been claimed.   A medical doctor narrated the story on Twitter as he discussed the "hazards" medical doctors are exposed to.   He wrote: "The kind of hazards Drs are exposed to is staggering! In Nigeria, added to the well-known hazards, we have assaults from patient relatives added! A female Dr was slapped and stabbed with a syringe (of unknown origin) in our Children's Emergency by the patient's father. For what?   "The young Registrar on call took a blood sample from the man's child and asked him to take it to the lab. The lab scientists (as they sometimes do) said the sample was inadequate.
