Dismissed soldier arrested for murder and armed robbery in Enugu

The Enugu State Police Command has arrested a dismissed soldier identified as Ifesinachi Nwankwo for murder and armed robbery.

 

The State Commissioner of Police, Abdurahman Mohammed, who disclosed this to newsmen, said the dismissed soldier, who is 24-years-old, joined the Nigerian Army in 2017 and served in Damboa, Maiduguri. Police said Ifesinachi reportedly went Absent Without Leave (AWOL) after his base came under constant Boko Haram attacks in 2018. The commissioner further revealed that the soldier-turned-armed robber was arrested alongside one of his gang members, Raphael Nworie, 27.

Mohammed said the duo and others at large were responsible for the murder of Ominyi Chukwu, an Assistant Police Superintendent after they attacked Ozalla Division of the command at Agro-Allied Product Filling station along Obe/Agbani Road, Nkanu West LGA of Enugu State.

 

Police bosses said the armed robbery suspects also carted away two assault rifles and injured a police inspector, Princewill Ebiriem, after the attack. The suspects also allegedly attacked and killed the Chief Security Officer of Amodu-Awkunanaw Community, Mr Onyebuchi Aninwagu, on 19th July 2020 and were alleged to have also made away with his pump-action gun.

 Muhammed said items recovered from the suspects include: 6 firearms including an AK 47 rifle, 15 ammunition, 36 live cartridges, 1 TV set, 1 mobile phone, and 1 cutlass. He added that they would be charged in court once investigations have concluded.

Gal Pissetzky, the legal representative of suspected Internet fraudster, Ramon Abass, aka Hushpuppi, has said the suspect is on his way to California, United States of America, for trial. He told The PUNCH on Wednesday night that Hushpuppi had not been released as being speculated in some quarters. Pissetzky, a Chicago lawyer, also noted that he was still his lawyer. “He has not been released and I am still his lawyer. He is on his way to California. Not everything you see on court documents is accurate. “Just because the jail record says ‘released’ does not mean he has been released. He is being transferred to California,” he told the PUNCH correspondent on the phone. Hushpuppi is facing trial for alleged Internet fraud.

Man Accused Of Using Coronavirus Relief Funds To Buy $318k Lamborghini

A Florida man has been accused of fraudulently obtaining nearly $4 million from the Paycheck Protection Program and using part of the money to buy a $318,000 Lamborghini. The man, David T. Hines, 29, of Miami, was arrested Friday July 24 and charged with one count of bank fraud, one count of making false statements to a financial institution and one count of engaging in transactions in unlawful proceeds, the Department of Justice said in a news release. Federal agents seized the car, valued at $318,000, and $3.4 million from his bank accounts when he was arrested, the Justice Department said. The criminal complaint against Hines was unsealed on Monday July 27, upon his initial appearance before U.S. Chief Magistrate Judge John J. O’Sullivan in the Southern District of Florida. The complaint alleges that Hines sought approximately $13.5 million in PPP loans through applications on behalf of several companies, the DOJ news release said. Singer Tamar Braxton has been rushed to hospital unresponsive after reports of heramid reports of a possible suicide attempt. Russian powerlifter breaks both knees as attempt to squat 400kg goes horribly wrong in terrifying video

  The Russian powerlifting champion fractured both of his knees while attempting to squat 400kg (880lb).    Defending champion Alexander Sedykh was competing in the World Raw Powerlifting Federation (WRPF) European Championships near Moscow when the terrifying incident occurred.   In the shocking video, Sedykh's legs can be seen shaking after holding the weight on his shoulders. A Nigerian doctor, Urey, who just passed out from National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, on Thursday, July 16th, has died. According to report, Urey who was a 2019 Batch B stream 2 corper, was involved in a fatal accident at Onne, Rivers state, on her way returning back home. Reports have it that the trailer lost control which led to the crash with her vehicle. Urey was a graduate of Imo state University, department of Optometry.   US President, Donald Trump has said he will pardon someone who is “very, very important” on Tuesday, August 18.   Trump made the announcement on Monday night, August 17, while speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One.
