Alexis Sanchez joins Inter Milan on three-year deal from Manchester United

Manchester United forward Alexis Sanchez has joined Inter Milan on a permanent three-year deal. 


The 31-year-old Chilean forward, who scored just five goals in 45 appearances for United, has been on loan at Inter since August 2019, but the move has now been made permanent after sealing a free transfer. 

 

Sanchez, who was earning up to an eye-watering £560,000-per-week at United will now take a substantial pay cut that will see him earn £130,000-a-week after tax in Milan.

"FC Internazionale Milano announces that Alexis Sanchez has joined the Nerazzurri on a free transfer. The Chilean forward has signed a permanent contract with the club until 30 June 2023," the Serie A club announced in a statement. 

 

After confirming Sanchez's exit, a United statement read: "Everyone at Manchester United wishes Alexis Sanchez all the best in his future career as he joins Inter Milan on a permanent transfer."

 

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer addressed Sanchez's move following United's win over LASK in the Europa League on Thursday, saying: "They've liked him, so of course that's a good move for him.

 

"Wish him all the best. He's a top player that we want to see play his best football. For whatever reason, we didn't see the best of Alexis, but he's a top professional and we just wish him all the best."

Magu Probe: Olukoyede, EFCC Secretary, Suspended

Some officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have received letters of suspension, TheCable understands. Although details of those suspended are yet to be made public,  TheCable  learnt that Olanipekun Olukoyede, secretary to the commission, is among those who received the letters. The development is not unconnected to the ongoing probe of Ibrahim Magu, suspended acting chairman of the EFCC. Magu was arrested on July 6 and whisked to the presidential villa in Abuja, where he appeared before a panel set up by President Muhammadu Buhari to probe the operations of the EFCC under him. The panel is headed by Ayo Salami, retired president of the appeal court. On July 14, Abubakar Malami, attorney-general of the federation (AGF), sent a letter to Mohammed Umar, acting EFCC chairman, notifying him of the suspension of 12 directors in the commission. Contract splitting is rampant in the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Niger Delta Affairs Minister Godswill Akpabio, said on Monday. According to him, the management of the agency indulges in splitting contracts to outwit the minister and evade approval. Speaking before the House of Representatives Committee on Niger Delta in Abuja, the minister alleged that the agency spent “over N4.2 billion in a day in tranches of N49 million.” The committee is probing how N40 billion was spent by the Interim Management Committee (IMC).
