Governor Sanwo-Olu says he'll like to meet 'mummy calm down' internet sensation

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has expressed his desire meet the little boy in the catchy "mummy calm down" viral video. 

 

The Lagos state Governor who noted that the exchange between the little boy and his mother was funny, stated that it depicts the efforts parents put in moulding children into responsible adults.

He also urged Lagosians to ‘calm down’ as they enjoy the coming holiday and festivity, and also to observe prescribed protocols towards defeating the deadly Coronavirus which are, maintaining social distancing, washing and sanitizing our hands, and using our face masks.
 

A post shared on his official Instagram page read; 

 

I saw a video of one charming young boy online asking his mom to ‘calm down’ as she was set to punish him for his misdemeanour.
I was moved by his sobriety, which reflected in his promise of “last chance”, when confronted with the fact that he is a regular offender. 
 
The exchange was indeed funny, but it depicts the efforts parents put in moulding children into responsible adults. I want to assume that his mom indeed calmed down because the appeal was moving enough to make anyone change their mind.
 
Interestingly, the video inspired this special message to the good people of Lagos State because of the deeper meaning it conveys. 

Fellow Lagosians, we need to ‘calm down’ as we enjoy the coming holiday and festivity.
 
It is a commemoration of Prophet Ibrahim’s heart of sacrifice and faith in Allah.
We need to emulate and demonstrate his sense of self-restraint at this time the world is combating the scourge of COVID-19.
 
We need to be moderate in our celebration and also observe prescribed protocols towards defeating the deadly coronavirus, which are, maintaining social distancing, washing and sanitizing our hands, and using our face masks.
The world needs responsibility and commitment of its people to oust coronavirus.
 
I urge every Lagosian to ‘calm down’ and not get carried away by the ‘excitement of the moment’. Like the rest of the world, we are still in the middle of a pandemic and need to remain extremely careful to keep the gains of the sacrifices we have all made in the past months. 
 
Let’s calm down!
 
 Meanwhile, I would like to meet the young boy since we both have exclusive right to the phrasal verb ‘calm down’.

Donald Trump says he will pardon someone ‘very, very important’ today

  US President, Donald Trump has said he will pardon someone who is “very, very important” on Tuesday, August 18.   Trump made the announcement on Monday night, August 17, while speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One.   Gbenga Akosile, the Chief Press Secretary to the Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has recounted his experience after recovering from the novel Coronavirus.   Gbenga in a post shared on social media, said himself, his wife and driver tested positive for the virus in July.   The media aide said the experience was scary for him as he had never felt that way before.   Nigerians have reacted to President Buhari's media aide, Bashir Ahmad's tweet which surfaced in the wake of the death penalty handed out to a Kano singer, Yahaya Sharif-Aminu who was found guilty of committing blasphemy for a song he circulated via WhatsApp in March 2020.    Bashir Ahmad had in the tweet shared in 2015, supported the death penalty for blasphemy which he described as his "belief".    The tweet read;  I cant pretend or keep silent. I support the death penalty for BLASPHEMY. Police arrest former dispatch riders for attempting to snatch vehicle from an Uber driver

Two former dispatch riders identified as Sule Abdulkareem and Celestine Joseph have been arrested by the Lagos state police for attempting to dispossess an Uber driver of his vehicle in Anthony Village area of the state.    They were arrested by SARS operatives at Anthony-Oke area of the state, while looking for a more deserted part of the area to launch an attack on the driver.   The two suspects who both confessed to attempting to rob the driver, claimed they had wanted to use the vehicle as collateral for a loan to start up a business. No life lost as boat with 10 passengers capsizes in Lagos (photos)

No life was lost after a boat capsized at Marine Police Head-quarter, Awolowo Road, Ikoyi on Tuesday night July 28.   According to a statement released this morning by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency LASEMA, The boat capsized while en route Ikoyi from Ilashe after it t collided with an unidentified substance. A total of 10 persons(9 Adult males and a female) were involved in the incident and were rescued alive by the Marine Police in conjunction with LASEMA Response Team as no life was lost. The names of the victims are as follows Ogungbe Taiwo(Captain of the Boat) Ernest Abode Anjadick Emmanuel Isah Obima Ewere Mashack Bulus Oyefeso Oluwamayo Owoyemi Taiwo Peter Aina Oluwasanmi Lawal Gbolahan and Chinasa Temitope(female) The second boat was recovered from the water ten minutes after the first one which had 7 victims on board and the total number of victims rescued now 17 in number ( 16 Males and 1 female).
