Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs through the National Council for Moon Sighting has called Muslims in the country to watch out for the new crescent of Zul-Hijjah from Tuesday, the 21st of July, 2020.

The call was made in a statement titled: ‘Crescent sighting reminder for Zul-Hijjah 1441AH’ issued on Monday by Usman Al-Nafaty on behalf of the Council.

“Crescent sighting reminder for Zul-Hijjah 1441H.

“Coming Tuesday, tomorrow is 29th of DHUL-QA’DAH 1441H (21st July 2020) hence, the first day to look for Zul-Hijjah 1441H crescent.

“The time of conjunction (i.e. crescent birth or astronomical new moon) is Monday evening, 20th July 2020) at 6:33 pm.

“Please kindly endeavor to look for the crescent on that day or ask someone to do so on your behalf and kindly share the results”, the statement read.

A Nigerian man has shared his experience with a lady who stopped on the road to interrogate him after she saw him walking around with his disgruntled niece. According to Twitter user @Ebuka_Eclat, he was walking along the road in Lagos with his niece who was visibly angry when the lady stopped and took her time to inquire who the ''angry child'' was to him. The lady went as far as speaking with the mother of the child to ensure he wasn't about to abduct the child. 21-year-old man arrested for allegedly sodomizing underaged boys in Anambra

Anambra Police arrested a twenty-one-year-old named Obimeze Maduabuchi Augustine, of Ofianta village, Nsugbe, in Anambra East Local Government Area of the state for allegedly having carnal knowledge of two small boys, aged five and seven respectively. A statement from the spokesperson for the state police command, SP Haruna Mohammed, said Obimese was arrested by detectives attached to B' Division, Akwa, following a tip-off. According to the statement, the suspect voluntarily confessed to the crime and blamed his actions on peer group Haruna said the state commissioner of police, CP John B. Abang, had ordered the transfer of the case to the state criminal investigation department (CID) for discreet investigations after which the suspect would be charged to court.

Gunmen abduct Ex-commissioner’s children and NSCDC officer in Zamfara

Several unknown gunmen have abducted the two sons of Bello Dankande, a former Zamfara commissioner alongside an officer of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC). The incident, which took place at Dankande’s residence in Gamji, Bakura local government area of the state on Tuesday August 18, left one person dead and a woman with injuries. According to report, Urey who was a 2019 Batch B stream 2 corper, was involved in a fatal accident at Onne, Rivers state, on her way returning back home. Two young boys burnt to death over alleged phone theft in Kenya
